What affects the final price

Most jobs land close to the starting price. Here’s what can move it up:

Tub size

Larger tubs need more material. Standard 5-foot tubs are at the starting price; oversized soaking tubs (6 feet and up) add to the cost.

Tub condition

The type of tub doesn’t change the price — cast iron, steel, and clawfoot tubs all start at the same rate, with no upcharge. What moves it up is condition: deep rust, large chips, or an old refinish peeling so badly it has to be stripped back to bare metal before we recoat. Everyday wear is already covered.

Caulking & minor repairs

Caulking is free with bathtub service. Standard chip and crack repair is included in the base price; major structural repairs to the tub body are quoted separately.

Travel

Brooklyn jobs are at the standard rate. For Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan, a travel fee of $25–$60 is added depending on the neighborhood — Manhattan tops out at $60 because of parking and access.

How much does it cost to reglaze a bathtub?

Payment

Bathtub reglazing starts at $475 for a standard tub, tax included. The price doesn’t change with the type of tub — what affects it most is your location: jobs outside Brooklyn include a travel fee of $25–$60 depending on the neighborhood, and Brooklyn is free. The fastest way to get an exact price is to send us a few photos through the form.

How is the work performed?

The work takes about three hours and follows three steps: prep, application, cure.

  1. Prep. We sand down the existing enamel to a clean substrate, fill any chips, and clean the surface with a degreaser. Dust is contained with a vacuum-assisted sander, not blown around the apartment.
  2. Application. The pour-on coating is mixed fresh by weight and poured along the tub rim. Gravity carries it down the walls and across the floor of the tub, where it self-levels into a smooth glossy finish. No spraying, no aerosols.
  3. Cure. The drain stays taped off for 24 hours while the coating hardens. After that, the tub is ready for normal daily use.

What material is used?

Liquid polymer

An epoxy-based liquid polymer developed specifically for bathtub refinishing. It’s poured rather than sprayed, which lets it self-level into a thicker, more durable finish than spray-on coatings. The material is low-VOC and low-odor — there’s a mild smell during application that clears within an hour or two, and once cured it’s completely inert.

How long does the reglazing process take?

Time

The entire process is quick and convenient, typically taking around 3 hours. More complex jobs might take up to 4 hours.

The material requires about 24 hours to fully dry and harden before you can use your “new” bathtub.

How long does the reglazed finish last?

Lifespan

With proper care, your professionally reglazed bathtub will look brilliant for 7 to 15 years.

10 to 15 years with normal care. The pour-on coat is several times thicker than a spray-on finish — typically 30–40 mils versus 6 mils — which is why it lasts so much longer. We back the work with a 5-year warranty.
