New York Tubs is a small, specialized shop that refinishes bathtubs in NYC apartments and homes. That’s all we do — no tile work, no plumbing, no shower pans. The team has more than a decade in the trade and brought the pour-on method to New York in 2022. We work directly with homeowners, renters, building managers, and co-op boards — and most jobs are done in a single visit: in by morning, finished by early afternoon, ready to use the next day.
Fully licensed and insured — general liability and workers’ compensation coverage up to $2,000,000, underwritten by Hiscox. COIs available within 24 hours for buildings that require them.
We refinish bathtubs using the pour-on method. The coating is poured straight onto the surface, where it self-levels into a thick, even film that bonds tight to cast iron and steel.
Most jobs take about three hours, and the tub is ready to use 24 hours later — one visit, no demolition, no plumbing, and no overnight fumes.

Most refinishing businesses take any work they can get — tubs, tile, counters, sinks, shower pans. We chose to focus on bathtubs only, and within bathtubs, only on porcelain-on-steel and cast iron.
It means we’ve seen every variation New York has — from prewar cast iron carrying three layers of old refinishing to standard postwar tubs — and we know what works on each one. When something unusual turns up on a job, we’ve usually seen it before.
The finished surface is smooth and uniformly white — close to a new factory enamel. It has a slight micro-texture, so it isn’t as slippery as bare porcelain, and there’s no need for a bath mat.
When you book with New York Tubs, you aren't getting a random sub-contractor. You're getting a master refinisher with over a decade of experience.
For over a decade I've worked in tub refinishing, and I've personally refinished hundreds of tubs — every job done by me, start to finish. My reputation is built on durable, long-lasting results, a clean process with no solvent fumes, and full respect for your home.
